The pure expression of Perdriel Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage Notes
2004

The 2004 harvest featured the driest spring in five years, with normal budbreak, good healthy shoots, and no frost damage. This dry weather remained through the beginning of the summer, resulting in beautiful fruit development with average-sized clusters. In December, our vineyards received a few intense showers that cooled down an already mild summer, delaying our Cabernet Sauvignon harvest to late April. Late in the season, an unexpected Zonda (a hot, dry wind that comes down from the Andes, driving humidity down to 1% at times) hit our southwest vineyards. The heat wave was very localized and some blocks showed burn signs on the fruit and lost significant leaves. The blocks that were more protected from this wind were harvested two weeks earlier than the average historical dates showing good aromatic profiles and perfect ripeness.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A warm torrent of densely layered red berries, cherries and spices, builds up to a sensuous mouthfeel and substantial structure supported by sinewy tannins and a superfine acidity. The back palate showcases tightly-knit tar and mineral notes, followed by delicate tobacco-leaf and slate affirmation of the Los Aromos Vineyard terroir.

A flashy, very ripe style, with lush plum, ganache, prune, espresso and black licorice notes that verge on overripe, but hold together well enough on the finish. For fans of the style. Drink now through 2010.
