The Pure Expression of Las Compuertas Malbec

Vintage Notes

The 2010 vintage was classic and satisfactory. Weather conditions determined significantly pronounced seasons, considering that spring frosts reduced yield and helped increase grape quality. Summer was mild, whilst autumn was cool, dry and long. This led to a slow ripeness, resulting in distinct varietal, naturally acid and fruity wines.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Vivid red with deep purplish hues wiht a great aromatic concentration, with plum, blackberry and black cherry notes. Subtle anise and licorice notes together with smoked hues define its great complexity. Succulent, with great persistence and silkiness.
Stephen Tanzer - 93 Pts: "Saturated dark, bright ruby. Highly perfumed scents of blackberry, violet and minerals convey a powerful impression of lift. Delivers a rare combination of thickness and lightness, with the wine's underlying minerality giving its black fruit flavors a penetrating quality. A real wave of fruit on the palate, finishing with extremely refined tannins and a note of oaky torrefaction. Another outstanding wine from the 2010 vintage."
Decanter - Gold Medal: "Serious wine with immense depth of violet color. Intense, fresh, complex nose with hints of boysenberry, sour cherry and some spice, with oak nicely integrtaed. Fabulous texture, with fine grain tannins . Very youthful at the moment . Needs decanting or time in the cellar."
Food Pairing Notes
