Lucas Löwi
Estate Director
Originally from Argentina, Lucas Löwi takes the lead at Terrazas de los Andes with a deep connection to viticulture. Born in Mendoza, a region known for its Malbec wines, Lucas holds a degree in Business Administration and an Executive MBA with honors from the IAE Business School.
With over 16 years at the LVMH group, Lucas brings his vast experience in the global development of fine wines. His commitment to sustainability and the preservation of natural heritage is reflected in his successful leadership over the last 8 years as Estate Director of Bodega Numanthia in Spain.
As the new Estate Director at Terrazas de los Andes, Lucas will guide the winery to new heights. His focus includes turning Terrazas de los Andes into Guardians of Mountain Life, addressing regenerative viticulture, glacier water conservation, and supporting the local community. With a clear vision, Lucas will continue the tradition of excellence and connection to the land at the top of the world.
Claudio Mestre
Vineyard Director
Born in Argentina, Claudio has been passionate about the transcendent power of nature and the diverse flora and fauna of his homeland since he was a child (back when he just called them ‘plants’). His childhood wonder and curiosity evolved into an earnest pursuit of a career in agronomy. He first ventured to the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States where he cut his teeth in the wine industry and learned about viticulture before returning to Argentina. In his native Mendoza, Claudio refined his newfound knowledge and accumulated two decades of experience before eventually landing at Terrazas de los Andes to serve as the Vineyard Director, where he oversees the development of our vineyards and grapes.
José Ponce
Sr. Winemaker
Born and raised in Mendoza, José inherited a passion for winemaking from his family tree, including his great-grandfather who, impressively, was the first agronomist in Argentina to become a winemaker. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps and guided by his own natural talents and passions, José studied Oenology and Food Industry at Don Bosco University before completing a postgraduate degree in Viticulture Development at the National University of Córdoba. Today, as the Head Winemaker at Terrazas de los Andes, he is widely celebrated as the “guardian of quality.”
Daniela Mezzatesta
R&D, Biodiversity and Living Soil Manager.
Daniela studied Agricultural Engineering at the National University of Cuyo in Mendoza and continues furthering her education today as a PhD candidate in Biological Sciences. As the R&D and Sustainability Manager at Terrazas de los Andes, Daniela has been the driving force behind research and development projects in the Terrazas vineyards since 2021. Her expertise pushes us to innovate, and with a special focus on sustainability initiatives, her contributions consistently enhance measures that protect our environment while making the highest quality wine possible.
Mariano Dorado
Agronomist
Mariano studied Agronomy at the National University of Cuyo, where he later also obtained a master's degree in Agro‑industrial Business Management. After a decade of service and a number of roles in the wine industry overseeing grape buying, harvest logistics, and vineyards management, Mariano joined Terrazas de los Andres in 2021 as an Agronomist in charge of the Finca Licán vineyard.Like a true guardian of mountain life, Mariano is also is currently in charge of optimizing the efficiency of water usage in all the winery’s vineyards.
Noelia Scquizziato
Chef
Noelia began her journey at Terrazas de los Andes in 2007, helping open the winery’s first restaurant preparing regional Argentinian foods under the tutelage of the head chef. In 2015, Noelia took over the restaurant after refining her craft and developing her own cuisine d’auteur. With locally sourced ingredients and fresh vegetables picked from her huerta, Noelia develops and presents her remarkable dishes with a singular artistry and passion, and she ensures that each pairing complements and highlights the individual qualities of each wine.
Maximiliano Ardanaz
Winemaker
After studying Oenology at Don Bosco University, Maximiliano first applied his scientific skills at Bodegas Chandon as a Laboratory Analyst, eventually joining Terrazas de los Andes in 2021. As a Winemaker, Maximiliano plays an important role in ensuring the quality of all our wines. His favorite part of his job is following the entire journey of the winemaking process– from the moment the grapes arrive at the winery, to the bottling, to tasting the unique terroir in each varietal and vintage.
Juan Fontana
Agronomist
Crafting quality wine is an elaborate and delicate process and Juan’s familiarity with each step plays an invaluable role. After graduating from the School of Agricultural Sciences at National University of Cuyo, Juan first joined Terrazas de los Andes in 2005 as a Quality Control Technician of grapes and winery operations and today he serves as Vineyards Sustainability Manager taking care of two of our key vineyards in Luján de Cuyo.
Luis Algarañas
Vineyard Supervisor
As the Las Compuertas Vineyard Supervisor, Luis looks after our most treasured jewel: an un‑grafted, pre‑phylloxera Malbec vineyard planted in 1929. He first joined the Terrazas de los Andes team in 1994, starting in the vine nursery where he learned about viticulture and the art of winemaking. In addition to his valuable service to the winery, Luis is currently pursuing a degree in Agronomy at the Technological Institute (ITU) in Tupungato, Uco Valley.
Alicia Vergara
Viticulturist
Originally from Bolivia, Alicia has been a key presence in the Las Compuertas and Los Aromos vineyards since 2006, where she participates in everything from harvesting and pruning to collecting valuable data for various sustainability projects.
